Pennsylvania's Allegheny River named River of the Year; Governor Shapiro recognizes June as Rivers Month, commits to clean water initiatives.

Allegheny River, in Pennsylvania, has been named River of the Year. Three Rivers Waterkeeper, an organization focused on water quality, nominated the river and received a $10,000 grant to fund activities. Governor Josh Shapiro signed a resolution recognizing June as Rivers Month and committed to clean water initiatives. A commemorative poster celebrating the river was created by DCNR and POWR and distributed at the event.
