2022 NSW Flood Inquiry funding enables South Coast Marine Rescue to enhance flood rescue capabilities with new resources and trained volunteers joining the State Operations Group.
South Coast Marine Rescue in NSW received state government funding after the 2022 NSW Flood Inquiry to improve flood rescue capabilities. Trained volunteers can now support the State Emergency Service (SES) using new purpose-built vessels, vehicles, and equipment. Following training, 24 Marine Rescue members joined the State Operations Group, deployable across the state during flood emergencies. The additional training and resources aim to increase local Marine Rescue capacity and support the NSW SES during significant emergencies.
