NCERT confirms interchangeable use of 'Bharat' and 'India' in textbooks based on Constitution.
NCERT Director Dinesh Saklani has confirmed that 'Bharat' and 'India' will be used interchangeably in textbooks, based on the country's Constitution. This decision follows a recommendation from a high-level panel working on the social science curriculum, which suggested replacing "India" with "Bharat" in school textbooks for all classes. The council has no aversion to using either term.
