India's Union government is urging ministries, departments, and organizations to regularly monitor employee attendance, with disciplinary action for those who habitually come late or leave early. The Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) will improve attendance tracking. Late attendance will be debited as half-a-day's Casual Leave, and strict action may be taken under the CCS(Conduct) Rules, 1964.
