Cork City's flood-defense project, Morrison's Island, will commence within weeks. Supported by the Office of Public Works, the project aims to protect 400 properties in a vulnerable city center quay area with substantial flood defense measures and quay wall upgrades, while introducing a new riverside promenade. The initial cost estimation of €7 million has risen to €20 million due to legal challenges, construction inflation, and complex ground conditions.
