22-year-olds Trenton Conkling and Jeremiah Smith were in a fatal car rollover on I-5, caused by Conkling's impaired driving without a seatbelt.
22-year-olds Trenton J. Conkling (deceased) and Jeremiah E. Taylor Smith were involved in a fatal car rollover on Interstate 5 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Conkling was driving a 2009 Black Chevy Malibu without a seatbelt and had impairment from drugs or alcohol. The vehicle veered off the road, struck a tree, and rolled over. Smith, wearing a seatbelt, was injured and transported to Madigan Hospital.
