64-year-old Julius Mwangi Irungu, father of convicted murderer Joseph "Jowie" Irungu, died from cancer on June 15th.

64-year-old Julius Mwangi Irungu, father of Joseph "Jowie" Irungu, who was convicted for the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani, passed away from cancer on June 15th. Jowie's father had expressed hope that his son would be released from prison and believed he had been unfairly tried and convicted. Jowie's ex-lover and co-accused, journalist Jacque Maribe, was acquitted in the case.
