Tesco has a little-known rule limiting customers to filling two portable fuel containers, with a maximum combined capacity of 30 litres, per visit. The supermarket is required to enforce this policy under the Petroleum Consolidation Regulations to ensure the safe use of portable fuel containers at its petrol stations. A Wiltshire man recently complained after being threatened with being reported to the police for filling up three jerry cans with petrol last year.
