Pope Francis has condemned the surge of violence in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where many Christians have been among the victims killed for their faith. The Pope called on national authorities and international communities to do everything possible to stop the violence and protect civilians. Since the beginning of June, nearly 150 people have died in the eastern DRC due to killings linked to the Islamic State group and other rebel groups.
