17 June: La Tontouta International Airport in New Caledonia reopens with 8 p.m. curfew after riots.
New Caledonia's main airport, La Tontouta International Airport, will reopen on June 17, with a curfew reduced to 8:00 p.m. local time, according to the French High Commission in the territory. The airport shut down and curfew were implemented last month amid riots over proposed constitutional reform. The measures were introduced after violence broke out, resulting in nine deaths, hundreds of injuries, and significant property damage.
