India's DRDO plans high-altitude trials of indigenous short-range air defence missiles in mountainous regions Ladakh & Sikkim. The missiles, developed to tackle aerial threats like drones, fighter aircraft, & helicopters, are part of a Rs 6,800 crore project to address the Indian Army's shortage of VSHORAD (Very Short Range Air Defence) systems to counter threats from Pakistan & China.
