Indian Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Vande Bharat sleeper trains, which prioritize both aesthetics and functionality, will start trials in two months, followed by operations six months after. The trains, set to be deployed in 250 units by 2029, are self-propelled and offer superior features compared to Rajdhani Express trains. The first train will be on track within two months, and its body is made of high-grade austenitic stainless steel with crash-worthy elements.
