The Indian government has dismissed a false WhatsApp message claiming the Agnipath Scheme, which recruits soldiers for a 4-year term, has been relaunched as "Sainik Saman Scheme" with modifications, including a 7-year duty period and increased permanent staff. The Press Information Bureau confirms no such changes have been made. The Agnipath Scheme, implemented in September 2021, remains unchanged.
