Great white shark populations rise along Canada's East Coast, prompting beach warning sign installation.
Great white shark populations are increasing along Canada's East Coast due to successful conservation measures and an increase in food supply. As a result, plans are underway to install warning signs at around a dozen public beaches in Nova Scotia this summer. Smaller signs with QR codes will be used to provide detailed information about the risks and how to avoid encounters with sharks. The North Atlantic population has been protected since 2011 in Canada and 1994 in the United States.
