A Corrimal resident's house was engulfed in flames on Yuill Avenue on June 15, and despite 12 firefighters battling the blaze for over an hour, the fire was extinguished too late to save her cat. The fire started near a heater and destroyed the single-level weatherboard home, believed to be a social housing property. The resident had self-evacuated before the firefighters arrived.
