Study finds southern Vancouver Island most susceptible to earthquakes in Cascadia Subduction Zone, consisting of four segments.
A new study reveals the southern Vancouver Island, including sections of the south Island and Washington state, is potentially the most susceptible part of the 1,000-km long Cascadia Subduction Zone, which stretches from B.C. to California and is prone to earthquake activity. The study, conducted by Natural Resources Canada seismologist John Cassidy, suggests the zone is composed of four segments instead of a single structure.
