RCMP officially opened the new $47M North Cowichan/Duncan detachment on June 14, 2024, with North Cowichan Mayor Rob Douglas describing the old building as "well past its best-before date." The new state-of-the-art police station, located at 6430 Ford Rd., was attended by over 100 people, including elected officials from all three levels of government and the chief of the Cowichan Tribes. Constructed on municipally owned land, the new building amalgamates provincial officers, forensic, traffic enforcement and Indigenous Policing units.
