Martin County Sheriff's Chief Deputy John Budensiek will become the next sheriff, following the announcement of incumbent Sheriff William Snyder's decision not to seek a fourth term. Budensiek, who has 27 years of law enforcement experience with the Martin County Sheriff's Office, was endorsed by Snyder. This marks the first time in the county's history that a sheriff's open seat was uncontested.
