Alberta's Chipewyan Prairie First Nation is seeking more control over historical resources on their traditional lands in the province's oilsands region. The First Nation, which has begun developing a cultural resources policy, aims to have a greater say in the management of artifacts, preservation, and display. Currently, industry and government do not have a legal obligation to consult with First Nations, although voluntary consultation sometimes occurs.
