British Columbia expands Klinse-za Park to 2,000 sq km, partnering with First Nations to protect endangered caribou.

British Columbia establishes its largest provincial park in a decade, expanding Klinse-za Park to almost 2,000 square kilometres to protect threatened caribou and other species in northeastern BC. The expansion is a result of a partnership in 2020 between the province and the Saulteau and West Moberly First Nations, who agreed to help stabilize and protect the endangered southern mountain caribou. The province reports that the caribou population in BC has declined by over 55% in the past century, primarily due to human-caused habitat disturbance.
