27-year-old Minnesota man, Abelhamid Al-Madioum, who fought for the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after expressing remorse and cooperating with federal authorities before his hearing. Al-Madioum's case is one of the few instances of Americans being brought back from the conflict in Syria and Iraq to face charges for terrorist-related crimes and alleged affiliations with IS.
