99 unregistered, uninsured mopeds were seized in a four-day operation in Queens, NY, as part of a citywide effort to combat moped gangs linked to a 400% increase in major felonies since 2022. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz emphasized that the use of illegal mopeds in violent crimes has become a significant concern. Since February, over 500 scooters have been confiscated in similar operations.
