2024 Paris Olympics swimming events will proceed in the River Seine, following a $1.5 billion water quality improvement investment.
Paris Olympics organizers remain confident that swimming events will proceed in the cleaned-up River Seine, despite recent heavy rain. A $1.5 billion investment has been made to improve the water quality, with a reservoir near Austerlitz train station collecting excess rainwater to prevent pollution. Marathon swimmers and triathletes are set to participate in the river after the Olympics open on July 26, 2024.
