Support for armed struggle among Palestinians has increased, with 54% backing it as the best means to end Israeli occupation and achieve statehood, according to an opinion poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research. Support for Hamas has also risen by 6 percentage points to 40%, while Fatah, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, has 20% backing. The poll was conducted eight months after the start of the Gaza war, which began when Hamas fighters attacked Israeli communities.
