Met Police officer Perry Lathwood fined £1,500 for wrongful arrest and assault of a woman for bus fare evasion in Croydon.

Met Police officer Perry Lathwood fined £1,500 for assault after wrongly arresting a woman for bus fare evasion in front of her young son in Croydon. Lathwood, attached to the Metropolitan Police’s Road Traffic Policing Command, grabbed Jocelyn Agyemang by the arm, causing bruising injuries during the arrest on July 21 last year. The incident left Ms Agyemang feeling "deeply humiliated and embarrassed," and both she and her son have lost confidence in the police service.
