A tech company, Honeywell, is reviving its work on hazard-warning systems after several near-misses on airport runways. The National Transportation Safety Board and many independent experts argue that pilots should get warnings without waiting for word from controllers. Last week, the NTSB recommended the Federal Aviation Administration collaborate with manufacturers to develop technology for directly alerting pilots.
