6-fold increase in family homelessness in Focus Ireland report, families now 1/4 of emergency accommodation.

Focus Ireland reports a 6-fold increase in family homelessness since 2014, with families now accounting for a quarter of all households in emergency accommodation. The number of families and children in emergency accommodation doubled since August 2021, with one-parent families comprising 13%, and couples with children making up 10.5%. Adult-only homeless households tripled in the last decade, and 2023 saw the highest number of new adults entering emergency accommodation since 2014.
