31-year-old former Mets pitcher Jorge López has signed a minor-league deal with the Chicago Cubs after being ejected and designated for assignment. López, who had a 3.76 ERA in 28 appearances for the Mets, will report to Triple-A Iowa and serve as a depth option in the bullpen. The Cubs aim to help López regain his previous form as their bullpen ERA currently stands at 4.47, ranking 24th out of 30 clubs.
