The University of Newcastle has dropped in rankings in the Times Higher Education's Impact Rankings, placing 39th, despite gains in gender equality, climate action, and clean water and sanitation. The Callaghan campus significantly improved its standing in clean water and sanitation, ranking 4th globally. Meanwhile, the University of Wollongong climbed to 44th place in the 2024 rankings, excelling in promoting sustainable economic growth, employment, and decent work for all.
