Quebec police have arrested three individuals in connection with an $8.9 million fraud and data theft case involving Desjardins, a co-operative financial group. The suspects were allegedly able to use stolen personal information to access clients' accounts through Desjardins' online banking platform. The arrests follow a 2019 data theft, described as the largest ever in the Canadian financial services sector, which targeted over 9.7 million Desjardins clients in Canada and internationally, including almost seven million Quebecers.
