Indian President Droupadi Murmu rejects Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Arif's mercy plea for 2000 Red Fort attack.
Indian President Droupadi Murmu has rejected the mercy plea of Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Arif, convicted in the 2000 Red Fort attack that killed three Indian Army personnel. This is the second mercy plea rejected by President Murmu since assuming office. Arif was a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group and was arrested by the Delhi Police shortly after the attack. The Supreme Court dismissed Arif's review petition in November 2022, affirming his death sentence. Despite multiple legal challenges, including review and curative petitions, Arif's plea for mercy was rejected, highlighting the severity of the crime and the threat it posed to national security.
