Mexico's central bank, Banxico, has acknowledged the market turmoil affecting the peso and stated it has tools available to restore market order if needed. Governor Victoria Rodriguez said the volatility is mostly due to external factors and that policymakers are not trying to defend a specific level for the currency. Banxico could intervene if the peso exhibits "atypical behavior or extreme volatility."
