Kerala govt announces financial assistance for families of deceased and injured Keralites in Kuwait fire, raising the death toll to 24.
The Kerala government announced it will provide Rs 5 lakh financial assistance to the families of 49 deceased Keralites and Rs 1 lakh to those injured in the Kuwait fire tragedy. The decision was taken at an emergency Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who also announced that the death toll has risen to 24 from 19. State Health Minister Veena George will be sent to Kuwait to coordinate treatment for the injured and ensure the earliest repatriation of the deceased's remains.
