380K cancer patients delayed since 2015 as UK faces 30% radiologist and 15% oncologist shortfall, warns RCR.

Cancer delays becoming routine across the UK with nearly half of cancer centres experiencing weekly delays, warns the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR). The college has warned of an "impending crisis" in the cancer workforce, with a "staggering" 30% shortfall in radiologists and 15% shortfall in clinical oncologists. Long waits for cancer care are now common, with more than 380,000 cancer patients not being treated on time since 2015, according to Cancer Research UK. The RCR report was based on responses from senior managers at 60 specialist cancer centres in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
