FAA to permanently increase oversight at Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems following 737 MAX 9 emergency.

The FAA will maintain increased oversight at Boeing and its supplier Spirit AeroSystems "for the foreseeable future", FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker told the US Senate Commerce Committee. This comes after the agency's decision to boost inspections following a Boeing 737 MAX 9 in-flight emergency in January is now considered permanent. Whitaker's testimony also reveals that the FAA has added "additional inspections at critical points of the production process."
