Deputy Liberal party leader Sussan Ley's WWII family heirlooms were stolen from a self-storage unit in Wodonga, Victoria. The thieves cut chains and padlocks to access at least six or seven storage units between June 9 and 10, also stealing other items. Ley's father had acquired the WWII relics in Japan during the war and while they had no monetary value, they held significant sentimental value for the politician.
