Bombay High Court refuses interim stay on BMC's animal sacrifice allowance during Bakrid.
The Bombay High Court declined to grant an interim stay on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) May 29 circular allowing animal sacrifices at 67 private meat shops and 47 municipal markets during Bakrid. The court found that the petitioners, Jiv Maitri Trust and Anoop Rajan Pal, did not make a formal application for interim relief. The court also noted a mechanism to lodge complaints regarding violations is in place.
