Annual inflation in the year to May remained steady at 2.6%, according to the Central Statistics Office. Transport saw the highest rate of inflation (6.7%), driven by diesel and petrol price increases. The restaurant and hotel sector had a 4.7% inflation rate. In contrast, clothing and footwear, and furnishings, household equipment & routine household maintenance sectors experienced price declines of 6.3% and 1.4% respectively.
