Amtrak projects to surpass 2019 passenger levels in 2024, despite less capacity.

Amtrak, the US passenger railroad, expects to exceed pre-pandemic passenger levels in 2024 and reach a record high despite having less capacity. Ridership was 20% higher in the first seven months of its budget year, and ticket revenue increased by 10%. Amtrak CEO Stephen Gardner's written testimony indicates the company is on track to surpass the 32.3 million passengers of 2019.
