Alberta abandons Bow River dam plan due to environmental and cultural concerns, evaluating alternative options.

The Alberta government has abandoned plans for a dam on the Bow River upstream of Mînî Thnî (Morley), west of Calgary. The decision comes after the Bearspaw First Nation CEO Rob Shotclose argued against the dam's potential environmental and cultural impacts on reserve lands. The province now evaluates two other dam options to prevent flooding in Calgary and manage water storage for droughts.
