Sydney Metro Rail Tunnel nears completion, linking Western Sydney Airport to St Marys; plans for opening in late 2026.
The Sydney Metro Rail Tunnel, linking Western Sydney Airport and Aerotropolis to St Marys, is almost complete. Three tunnel boring machines (Catherine, Eileen, and Peggy) have finished their journeys. The project, funded by the Albanese and New South Wales governments, is scheduled to open in late 2026, providing 14,000 jobs and 250 apprenticeships. Six stations are being built along the 23-kilometer track.
