SNCF plans to offer high-speed passenger services in Italy from 2026 with TGV-M trains, competing with Trenitalia and Italo.
France's SNCF plans to offer high-speed passenger services in Italy from 2026, competing against Trenitalia and Italo on domestic routes. SNCF will operate its new TGV-M trains on selected routes in Italy, as their current generation of TGVs are not compatible with the Italian high-speed network. SNCF aims to capture 15% of the Italian high-speed market within a decade, or 10 million passengers per year.
