The Oklahoma City Zoo announced the birth of two critically endangered Guatemalan beaded lizards, making a total of eight since the species' arrival in 2020. These lizards are considered one of the most endangered globally, with an estimated 200 left in the wild. The zoo is part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan®, which aims to ensure genetic diversity for the species.
