Nigeria's ex-President Buhari's approval of naira currency redesign in 2022 is disputed in a legal case against CBN ex-Governor, Emefiele.

Nigeria's ex-President, Muhammadu Buhari, is at the center of a legal debate over his approval of the country's naira currency redesign in 2022. The federal government has presented documents to prove Buhari's approval as Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) ex-Governor, Godwin Emefiele, is being prosecuted for redesigning the N200, N500, and N1,000 notes without Buhari's or the CBN board's approval. Witnesses testified that the new notes created by Emefiele differed from the ones approved by Buhari in terms of QR Code, portrait placement, and numbering style, but were still deemed "fit and proper for use" by the Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company Plc (NSPMC) boss. The court admitted the documents, and the case continues.
