NHS England introduces "health MOTs" at A&E entrances for older patients, offering tests to support quicker care and direct them to specialist services.

NHS England is introducing "health MOTs" at A&E entrances for older and frail patients, offering tests that check blood pressure, heart health, mobility, and malnutrition. The initiative, part of the Urgent and Emergency Care Recovery Plan, aims to support older patients more quickly and direct them to specialist care, such as fall services and dementia support. The Society of Acute Medicine warns that this measure alone will not reduce dangerous overcrowding in A&Es unless other issues, such as the crisis in social care, are also addressed.
