Michigan State University researchers discovered nine undiscovered X-ray flares from the Milky Way's central supermassive black hole, Sagittarius A*, using data from NASA's NuSTAR X-ray telescope. The flares offer a unique opportunity to study the black hole's environment and activities. Researcher Jack Uteg also analyzed X-ray echoes from a molecular cloud near the black hole, allowing him to peer more than 200 years into the black hole's past.
