Robot-administered radiotherapy improved treatment for a debilitating eye condition, wet neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD), in a trial by King's College London and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The custom-built robot delivered a one-off, minimally invasive dose of radiation, with patients needing fewer injections to control the disease. The potential savings in injections could be around 1.8 million per year globally.
