Indigenous consortium Sixty North Unity is set to acquire Northwestel, the largest telecommunications provider in Canada's North, for around $1 billion. Following the transaction, Northwestel will become the largest telecommunications company worldwide with full Indigenous ownership. The consortium plans to maintain the company's leadership team and increase Indigenous representation in the workforce.
