Fiji Navy's new Guardian-class patrol boat, RFNS Puamau, ran aground on a reef at Fulaga Island in the Lau group during a two-week patrol mission. The vessel was provided by Australia under the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project. The Fiji Navy stated its utmost priority is the safety and welfare of the crew and the safe recovery of the vessel, with a crisis management team assembled to oversee the situation.
