Chicago's St. Bartholomew Catholic Church opens a migrant shelter with support from the City of Chicago, Cook County, and the Archdiocese of Chicago, operated by the Zakat Foundation.

Chicago's Portage Park neighborhood welcomes a new migrant shelter at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, supported by the City of Chicago, Cook County, the Archdiocese of Chicago, and the Zakat Foundation. The shelter houses migrants arriving from the southern border and operates without cost to the city, aiming to integrate migrants into the community for work and contributions. The Zakat Foundation manages staffing, social services, and logistics, and the city will sublease the building to the foundation.
